One of the earliest "flavoured" gins, our Cherry Bakewell Gin was inspired by a windy and treacherous hike to the top of Ben Lomond via the Ptarmigan Ridge.

Sheltering from the good Scottish weather and refuelling with some of Mr. Kipling's finest produce, Jessica turned to me and said "I wonder if we could make a gin that tastes like this...".

 "...If we make it home, we'll try," I replied.

After trial and error aplenty, McLean's Cherry Bakewell Gin was born. If you've ever eaten one of Mr. Kipling's delights, you'll know exactly what to expect from this spirit. Lashings of cherry, almond and marzipan are rounded off with our own twist of botanicals and spices (specifically orris root, cardamom and nutmeg).

Whilst very much a "flavoured" gin, Cherry Bakewell is drier than often expected and contains no added sugar, with a 25ml measure containing just 65kcal. That's 132kcal less than Mr. Kipling's own version. 

Cherry Bakewell makes for a great G&T with a twist, and pairs perfectly with both lemonade and cream soda. It's a fantastic base for a huge array of cocktails, with the Singapore Sling tied with French Martini at the top of our list.

Hand-crafted, bespoke, micro-batch gin, individually made and bottled in Glasgow, Scotland.

Our range of gins have been created using innovative distillation techniques. We have utilised vacuum distillation at cold temperatures, and botanic steam baskets, allowing for the freshness of certain botanicals to be more present. Specific botanicals have been carefully chosen to compliment the percentage alcohol charge of the still, and the cutting point of the distillation. This ensures a premium flavour in the hearts of the distillation.
