Tasting and serving notes for the award-winning Marlow Gin (IWSC 2020 Silver winner) 

The Marlow Distillery blends eight botanicals to create a gin that can be drunk neat over ice or mixed with tonic for a longer drink. A citrus led gin with an undertone of traditional juniper, the nose is led by distinctive aromas of lemongrass, carefully blended with fresh Persian lime. In recognition of Marlow’s brewing heritage, Goldings hops from East Kent complement the flavour with earthy citrus and honey undertones. The final addition of cassia bark delivers a subtle spice element to complete the gin. 

The IWSC (International Wines and Spirts Competition) provided the following tasting notes for Marlow Gin: 

Luscious, refreshing lemon sorbet marries resinous alpine spruce. Moist fresh cucumber blends seamlessly with fragrant aromatic juniper notes. An accomplished refined and elegant gin. 

Perfect Serve: 

We suggest serving this gin in a 2:1 ratio – a double measure of tonic to a single measure of Marlow Gin. Add a garnish and you are away. Mixing with aromatic tonic offers a new exploration of Marlow Gin’s flavours. For garnish, we suggest fresh coriander leaf, or a thin slice of kiwi fruit or fresh apple. For a citrus based garnish, try a thin slice of pink grapefruit.  

The smooth, fresh and deep flavours of Marlow Gin make a perfect base for cocktails. Try a classic Negroni, a French Gimlet or make a pink gin by mixing a few drops of Angostura Bitters into the glass before adding ice, Marlow Gin and then tonic.  

Or simply drink Marlow Gin neat – pour a measure over ice and sip.
